We came in about 10 minutes before happy hour ended, which they offered to get our orders in to make sure we didn't miss it.
It was a Monday night and there seemed to be low traffic, however the food was wonderful, they provided great service and it was a very nice atmosphere! They have seating on two levels.
We will be back! -

It pains me to write a sub-par review for a family owned restaurant, because I wish every entrepreneurial family well-- but this spot was just that : subpar. We made reservations on open table for 6pm, and when we approached..noticed the restaurant was empty..which Is truly a tell-tale sign in this city that people are not voting for this spot...
The service was wonderful, the drinks were delicious, but the food was just blah. My mother (who never comments on food taste, ever) even said to me, "this tastes like it was made yesterday and then frozen until just now."
I hope that this was a simple one-off experience..and I wish this restaurant well, because the location gives it potential to be a fab spot -

Alright... I'll forewarn you that I have questionable taste at best when it comes to Mexican food. My tolerance runs the gamut: I've enjoyed tacos from Taco Bell and Jack in the Box, taco trucks all over, high end Mexican restaurants close to Mexico, and Tex Mex joints on the border. I'm pretty cool with whatever as long as it's well done.
Palmero is not well done.
I could have forgiven at least part of my al dente chilé poblano (their take, "original" the waiter said, on a relleno) and the jumbo Paloma I ordered that was 75% Sprite and had likely never met a grapefruit in its life had someone simply stopped by to ask if everything was okay and how I was enjoying my meal.
But alas, no such opportunity arose, apparently.
So if you're in to Palomas that are barely meeting the criteria to be an alcoholic beverage, a chilé relleno with some crunch and drowning in what I'm guessing is yesterday's salsa simmered down with some marinara, and service that was polite, but absent for the majority of the meal, then by all means -- this is the place for you! -

After reading some reviews we were hesitant to come here for dinner, but definitely glad we did. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with some family; it wasn't very busy which wasn't a great sign, but it was a nice place with festive music and holiday lights and it very clean. The wait staff was friendly and fast, and we got drinks and chips and salsa quickly after being seated (the salsa was very spicy, would have preferred it a little more mild) We got margaritas which were big and pretty good, and I got the vegetarian veggie enchiladas which were surprisingly good as well. My wife got the ground beef enchiladas with rice and beans and it was exactly what she wanted. There are a lot of more modern/fancier Mexican places in Seattle, but for a family Mexican restaurant we were pleasantly surprised at this one. Will definitely be coming back.

Excellent service. Great Happy Hour (all day, all weekend!), STRONG margaritas. Tasty dishes. Honestly, I'm sold.
First things first, I'd like to give a huge shout-out to our server, Ariana. She had such a positive energy, super friendly, and was extremely attentive during our entire visit to La Palmera. Thank you for such great service!
I have to say, I'm a big fan of their Happy Hour. HH all day Saturday AND Sunday? 6$ margaritas and decently priced food items? I'm being 100% honest -- those margaritas are STRONG. Make sure you load up on the chips and delicious salsa while you're waiting for the food, because if you're like me, the margarita might surprise you and creep up sooner than you thought, haha!
We ordered:
- House margaritas and sangrias
- Chicken quesadilla from the HH menu
- Santa Fe nachos with chicken from the HH menu
- La Palmera prawns Caesar salad
- Camarones a la diabla
- Pollo asado tacos
I have to say, I think my favorite was definitely the prawns Caesar salad! I was super happy with the addition of the mushrooms and the garlic butter sauce, it was a delicious combination of flavors. I was also a huge fan of the Santa Fe nachos, they were a perfect combination of cheesy and the pollo asado here has a very great taste to it! As far as authenticity goes, I'm pretty picky about my Mexican food, but I have to say -- beans and rice are on point here, and that's the biggest test to pass in my opinion ;-)
Overall, I really recommend a visit to La Palmera in SLU, especially with its prime location. Happy Hour is bomb, service is great, and the food is delicious. Will be back for sure!
